Minster Oboe Reed

The Minster (colour olive green) is a medium-weight oboe reed popular with many players who like a wide reed. The medium gouge and a standard U-scrape produces an oboe reed with a good balanced scrape combining warmth and responsiveness. The shape is wide with a large internal volume creating a broad tonal colour.

Some players find the wide shape can cause wallowing of 2nd octave F#, G or G#, or the pitch to be too low overall. If this happens try a narrower reed style.

Overall these features combine to offer a medium-weight oboe reed with a warm and very broad tone.
