DeVere Oboe Reed
The DeVere is a heavy-weight oboe reed recommended for experienced players. The medium gouge combines with a thick U-scrape to give an oboe reed with plenty of heart and substance for the accomplished embouchure to work with. The shape is our narrow throat shape with a specially reduced volume in the throat region (just above the binding). This has been designed to help those players who find our usual narrow shape reeds wallow around 2nd octave F# - G# but who dont want to go to the extremes of the very narrow shaped oboe reeds. This shape also has the advantage of offering much enhanced projection.
Overall these features combine to offer a substantial oboe reed with a rich dark very focused tone.

Recanes - what are they?
Recanes are made by using your old reeds - we strip back the cane and binding to leave just the staple (cork and metal base) and we bind on a new piece of cane. They play like new reeds and last just as long.

NOTE: when you order Recanes you will need to post the correct number of old reeds to us. Please make sure the corks are not broken or marked in ink. First place your order through this website, and then pack up your old reeds with a note mentioning your order number and name, and post them to us. You will find our postal address on the order confirmation email we send you once your order is made.
